Wendy Lane, MD

Endocrinologist

Wendy Lane, MD, graduated magna cum laude from Yale University in 1980 with degrees in biology and English literature. She then attended Dartmouth Medical School, and completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts (Harvard Medical School). After practicing internal medicine for 5 years in New Hampshire, she completed a fellowship in endocrinology and diabetes at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine (University of Vermont). She also completed a one year fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology. Dr. Lane has been in private practice in Asheville, North Carolina since 1998.


She currently practices endocrinology and diabetes at Mountain Diabetes and Endocrine Center with Dr. Stephen Weinrib and Dr. Jonathan Rappaport. She is the director of the center's clinical research unit. Dr. Lane's medical and research interests include the use of insulin pumps in type-1 and type-2 diabetics. She is a pioneer in the use of U-500 insulin in pumps for patients with very high insulin requirements/doses. She has authored nine articles on diabetes management over the past seven years and is frequently asked to design and refine protocols for industry, as well as design her own study protocols.
